Wedding Stuff

Despite the gloomy rain, Heather and I ventured into Boston for the Bridal Expo at Fenway Park (while they are away playing the EVIL Empire.)

We saw lots of great photography, trip planners and other odds and ends. Heather even got a small make over. :-) There is a NEW trend out there that we saw over and over: Mobile Picture Booths. For "X" amount of dollars, you can rent a Photo Booth for your wedding (up to 4 hours). The concept is cool and some even have stickers. At the expo, several photographers were providing Free samples of this feature. Of course, Heather and I took advantage of this. See examples:

Are we dorks? Probably. But we had fun and that's what counts, right?

Books of my youth

I am a girl of the '80s. I had pegged pants, crimped hair and wore scrunchies.

That's me on the left, with my brother and cousin Lori.

So of course, as a teeny-bopper of the '80's, I worshiped books such as:

babysitters-club
The Babysitter's Club

AND........

Sweet Valley Twins!

Do any of you remember these books? I loved them. I always wanted to be like Jessica and be a member of "The Unicorn Club."

And of course I wanted to be like Dawn from the BSC because:
A. She was blonde.
B. She was from California.
C. She was just super cool.
I was also a BIG fan of Stacey too because she had fun clothes.

So you must wonder, what prompted Kristin to bring this up? Well, I took a quiz on Facebook titled, "Which Baby-Sitter's Club Character Are You?"

I have to say, I wasn't super excited about my results: I got Claudia.
You are the teenage artistic genius of StoneyBrook Middle School. Countless pages have been dedicated to your homemade scrunchies/legwarmers/oversized t-shirts with ballet flats. You can paint, sculpt and eat Mallomars with the best of them. Unfortunately, your older sister is a genius with a major stick up her ass. As are your parents. You had a wonderfully understanding Grandmother, Mimi, but now you must rely on your BSC pals and art teachers to boost your self-esteem. And no BSC book would be complete without describing your ""beautiful, almond shaped eyes" which is the 80s politically correct way of describing your Asian ethnicity. .
She's not bad, but she's no Dawn or Stacey. Where I will admit, I am artistic, I do not suffer from low self esteem, plus I am not Asian. :)

The result of this quiz got me thinking. Whatever happened to the Sweet Valley Twins/Sweet Valley High Books?(I lovingly referred to them as the SVH.)

I decided to google "Sweet Valley High" and got this: Diablo Cody to Adapt 'Sweet Valley High.

Ummmm....what?! A movie you say? I know that there was some sort of movie/series in the '90s that was kinda a cheesy, but this might be cool. The director to take on this project directed "Juno" and "Jennifer's Body." I would like to see the spin that she puts on the SVH sisters. I could see Elizabeth (the smart one) portraying the quirky Juno personality while Jessica is your typical "Mean Girl."

Aside from BSC and SVH, I also loved RL Stine, Christopher Pike, Judy Blume, "Are you there God? It's me Margaret," "Just Like Ice Cream," the Ramona Books, and many, many more.

Eventually, at the tender age of 9, my Aunt gave me 500 Harlequin Romance Novels and let's just say I LEARNED alot!

I would LOVE to get my hands on some of my old books! So the search begins!!

What was your favorite books as a kid?

I'm baaaaack!

Ok, ok. I have been a bad girl.

I haven't blogged in like a month.

So I decided I'd better post something before Nicole beats me with a wet noodle ;)

So where to begin? It's been a BUSY summer. Here are some highlights thus far:

I finally got my 5-year-old (ahem, almost six-year-old) baptized. Yup. You can call me a slacker but atleast I went through it, right?? Plus, he looked super cute in the sash they gave him!
Let the CCD classes begin!!

Speaking of little Billy...he broke his wrist and got a green-stick fracture in his radius. How, may you ask? Well, I will tell you. My little tazmanian devil was running over a patch of mulch at the playground of his summer camp and tripped over his own two feet. He landed on his wrist, and the rest is history. We've gone through two casts already, moving on to a third tomorrow.

So I have read all the Sookie Stackhouse Books that I can read. Now that I have read them all, I have to wait until May for a new Sookie Book! WTF!!

To top things off, there are only 3 or 4 more episodes of True Blood left for the season. They don't even start filming season 3 until after Christmas. This will not be a fun wait! :) Atleast I will see my precious Edward Cullen in November! I think New Moon will tie me over.

But speaking of Sookie Stackhouse. I think she is just so cool. So cool in fact that I am dressing up as her for Halloween!! It will be amazing! And I can't wait!

Well there are more things that have obviously have happened to me this summer. I have read alot, spent countless weekends at the beach, discovered YoVille, danced, drank and did Yoga!

Maybe I should work on my Summer To Do List?? Let's see what I have accomplished, shall we?

1. Finish peeling down the ugly wallpaper in my living room/stairway. Afterwards, it will be painted a nice beige / sand color.
(Hmmmm...well kinda. I need to scrape a little more off in my stairway, but I am afraid of the scary ladder. So I will say I am 60% done.)

2. Pay my credit cards down!! I mean it this time. This is essential because I will not buy my beloved Coach purse until they are all at least 50% paid off. (Sigh) Also, I would like to purchase a new car too (an SUV that’s good in the snow).
This is a much harder task. I got my hours cut down by 10%, until September (crossing fingers) so I hope to accomplish this through the fall, early winter. As Scarlett O'Hara says, "Tomorrow is another day!" I feel like I am up to my eye-balls in bills. Everyone wants my money :) Maybe I will come into a cash windfall? I did play the $170 million lottery tonight...

3. Watch Bill build our deck in the back yard as I enjoy a nice, cool drink. (BIG Check!!)

4. Redo little Billy’s bedroom. It is just kind of blah…It needs color! (And a new bed.) (Not yet! Need to finish #1, First.)

5. Go to the Children’s/Science Museum with little Billy and others. (REALLY big check!!)

6. Clean out all my clothes that I do not wear anymore (not making excuses saying that I REALLY will wear it again, because I know won’t.) Then I will distribute amongst my friends and whatever they don’t want goes to charity. (Yup. Got rid of alot of it. I still have a basket to have my girls go through. I was told I should sell some on eBay. Hmmmm..that may help # 2!)

7. Try to have more of a social life!! This is my LAST summer in my 20’s!!! (Working on it! I have gone to some fun bars and parties thus far. Keep 'em coming!)

Faareeeky Friday

Hello. Okay...I know it is not Friday, I am a busy girl. Sorry I slacked last week! Here are the freaktastic things I have encountered this week:

Morgan Freeman to marry
his step-granddaughter!

Ewww! I think that I just may have thrown up in my mouth a little!
According to the National Enquirer, Morgan Freeman (72) intends to marry his 27-year-old step granddaughter. They have apparently been carrying on a decade-long affair. (Gag...)
The bride, E'Dena Hines, is the grandaughter of Morgan's first wife. Apparently, he and his 2nd wife raised E'Dena since she was a young child. That is sooooooo wrong!!

Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince!!!
harry potter
The wait is finally almost over!
Yippeeeee!!
Clocked in at 2 hours and 41 mins, I think it is going to be good!
Did you know that Rupert Grint, the actor that plays Ron, is recovering from Swine Flu?
Poor guy!

Happy B-Day Nicole!
In honor of my cousin Nicole's B-day, she is having ANOTHER giveaway!
Check it out here! (And tell her I sent you!)
