April Fools?

I think that the weathermen are playing a joke on the people that live in the Boston area. (And the entire Northeast region.)

Rumor has it that we are getting a BIG Nor'easter on Friday, which also happens to be April Fool's Day. This so-called "storm" will leave 6" of snow! C'mon! Where is my SPRING?

I am calling the weathermen's bluff. There will be no storm. We will all wake up Friday morning and the news casters will be laughing and saying Happy April Fool's Day!!

At least in my happy world, that's what I am hoping for!

Sharing my art for the day

I am feeling like spring today, aside from the fact it is FREEZING out. At least it is sunny outside! Enjoy the artwork I created today! It make me happy (and I hope it will make you feel that way too!)

New Project!

Here is a sneek peek at new knitting project that I am working on! I am using one of my fun, new "Springtastic" yarns that I recently purchased from KnitPicks.com. It is called Princess Multi.

Any guesses on what it may be?

Spring has sprun!

Today is technically the first FULL day of spring! I have been looking forward to this day since Christmas. If you know me at all, I am not a fan of Old Man Winter – and everything that goes along with him (snow, ice, cold....blah!)

So after months of counting down – THIS IS HOW MOTHER NATURE REPAYS ME (and everyone else in New England!)

With Snow!

Thanks Mother Nature! Your a real peach! :P

My thoughts on the Zumba wii game

Tonight I used my Zumba wii game for at the second time. I usually hit the good old gym on Thursday nights to get my Zumba fix. Tonight, I wanted to hang out with my son and decided to forgo the gym. (I hardly saw him yesterday and I missed him.)

I had a great time with my son - but I was feeling guilty that I bailed on the gym.

So after Billy went to bed, I made sure that my BF was busy watching basketball (so he wouldn't intrude). Finally after everyone was settled, I popped the game into my wii console and got down to business.

As I mentioned before, I have used this game before. The first time that I used the game, I realized halfway through my 45 minute session that I was wearing the belt wrong - so a lot on my steps were not registering. I still had a great time though.

This time around, I wore the belt in the correct position and got a much higher score! I had a great workout and felt less guilty about sharing a cupcake with my office roomie earlier today. Shhhhhh don't tell on me!

Back the Zumba game. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
Great sweaty workout!
Fun to dance to!
Easy to do at home - especially after the kids go to bed.
Not worrying about bumping into people

Cons:
Had to keep readjusting the belt that held the wii controller

If I had to choose between taking a class or playing the wii game, I would definitely choose the class. You can't beat the atmosphere of a class. But the game is a great supplement and I would recommend it to Zumba lovers or those who are interested in trying it.

My Weekend

I had a very busy weekend! Between watching my son pedal his way around on his Big-Boy bike (he just learned to do it by himself last week) and fitting in a yoga workout, I am bushed!

It was a beautiful weekend! For the most part, the temperature was mild and partly sunny. My BF got a lot of yard work done and he finally cut down the ugly Spider-looking cherry tree in my front yard! (I helped a bit too.)

Also, on Friday I got my latest yarn fix from Knit Picks. Yeah...I am addicted to yarn. But I couldn't resist. I needed more happy colors in my life!

These colors remind me of Springtime!

I have some projects lined up for these colorful goodies! Can't wait! But first, I must finish my Riff Socks! (I am so close...)

Also, this came in the mail for me:

I recently discovered Debbie Stoller from an online book club that I order books from. This is the 2nd book of hers that I own. Her books (Stitch 'n Bitch) are entertaining and very informative! Plus, the patterns in her books are so creative - I can't wait to try them out. Definitely money well spent. Visit her website: http://stitchnbitch.org.

You can actually find local SnB groups on her website where you can meet other knitters in a group setting and well...bitch. I would love to look into this and start my own group (or join one)...hmmmm...

So here we are at Monday. Back at work for me. Happy Monday!

Riff Socks Update

I have finally finished Sock #1 in my Riff Sock knitting project.

To recap, I am knitting these socks in “Juice Box,” a Stroll Hand Painted Sock Yarn from Knit Picks. It is a great yarn to work with because not only is it soft, but it is completely
machine washable.

I had an issue with the cuff at the top. On my first try with the cuff, it was way too tight when I binded off – Even with Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. I then decided to rip it out, increase my stitches and do my own ribbing (with the magical bind off.) I am happy with the result.

Now it is time for sock #2:

Boy oh boy!
