Back to Reality

Here I am. Back from from the Happy Island of Aruba. Back to reality and life. I was welcomed back to Mass. with 90 degree weather, in APRIL mind you. Where this weather is very nice, it is nothing like Aruba.
I have many tales from Aruba: the sights, the shopping, the sunsets, the frozen tasty drinks....and the people. Ahhh...let's discuss the people. The locals are wonderful people. Very nice, very unlike us rude Americans. But I would like to focus on the tourists, one in particular. Me and boyfriend nicknamed her "Six-Shot Lady."
I stayed at a very, very nice All Inclusive Beach Resort. I happened to bump into "Six-Shot Lady" during one of my frequent visits to the bar. Six-Shot Lady was middle-aged and defined (in my eyes) the meaning of "White Trash." Now I mentioned that our resort was All Inclusive, meaning that all food and drinks (including alcoholic) were "free." So I sat down and waited for the bartender to serve me and "Six-Shot Lady" sits down next to me. She promptly gets the bartender's attention (even though others and myself had been waiting). She proceeds to order 4 pizzas and two orders of onion rings. (I thought, hmmmmm...she must be hungry.) She then orders some type of whiskey, but she wanted a double. Now they give everyone the same glass, which is about 14 to 16 ounces. So the bartender fills her glass about half-full (which is more than too shots...) "Six-Shot Lady" looks down at it, frowns and calls the bartender back.
She says, "I said a double."
He says, "That it is one."
She says, "Well...I want more."
The bartender comes over to pour more in.
She proceeds to take the bottle out of poor Mr. Bartender's hand and pours it in herself. She filled it right to the brim. Mind you, there was NO ice in the cup. (Damn, that gave me a hang-over just looking at it.)
So that's how "Six-Shot Lady" got her name.
I kept bumping into her and her son throughout our stay. It finally occurred to me that I needed her picture...REALLY bad. It would have been the frosting on my scrapbook of the trip. But alas, it was too late, "Six-Shot Lady" was gone.
Oh well. There is always next year.
